Netbook Reflection !!

This year I have been learning very differently. I have been learning with a Netbook. It is very different from learning in a book. This year, 2013 was my first time to get a Netbook. It is easier to type on a Netbook than write in a book.

What it is like having a Netbook is we now can always connect on the internet very fast. I hope next year I will do much better than this year with my work now that I know how to use my netbook really well.

It is very different to a book because it has a screen and a keyboard. It is sometimes hard for me to take care of my netbook when having a one year old sister in the house.

For the last few terms I have been learning about being smart online. We had to make a poster showing how to be smart online. And also this term I have been learning all about Saint Patrick and Saint Joseph.

We don’t just learn from our teacher we learn from our parents, family, friends and others. We are lucky to have these Netbook’s. Thanks to Miss G for helping us with everything that we do on our netbook.

Cutlural Day !!!

“It’s Cultural Day” I shouted aloud.

On a burning hot day it was Cultural day for the Senior Syndicate.

I walked straight into church feeling like I was late, but I was just in time. I was scared that I would make a mistake. Suddenly we had to walk up to the altar. Me, Rachel and Rosalina had to stand up with other students in the Senior Syndicate to read a pray of the faithful. I was the third one to say the prayer. I said it as I was happy and felt excited.

When church was finished we all had to go to room 7 so they could start their presentations. We got a piece of paper each, this was so we could mark each group. The first group started their presentation, this was about the United Kingdom. They told us about the time and some words that people in the U.K use.

Then there were other groups who presented their presentations, they were Italy, Greece, Spain and Germany. After they had all presented to us it was morning tea time. The bell rang and Room 6 and 7 and their teachers had to come to our class so we could present to them.

I was so scared, happy, and excited waiting to present. The students all came and sat down. I had to go and sit where Miss G normally sat so I could change the slides. My group then started by saying “OLA AMIGOS” with a smile on our face.

We had finally started. As soon as it was my turn to say my part I stood up and said “Peru has a traditional dance that is mixed up with two other dances”. I felt so happy when it was over.

After my class had presented we then had to move to room 6’s class. We got a paper each and a pencil. First in room 6 to present was the Indian group. They told us all about what sort of food they eat and other facts.

After when their class had finished presenting we all had lunch. My friends were all talking about how happy and frightened they were. We were all happy that we had done great work presenting to the Senior Syndicate.

After Lunch we had to get changed. The girl’s had to get changed into a skirt and a t-shirt. The boys had to get changed into pants and a t-shirt too. The whole of our school and some parent’s were in the hall. Once the other classes had finished it was our turn, When our danced finished I was feeling really overwhelmed.

Film Festival 2013

“ YAY”. I shouted with excitement .

At 9:30 in the morning the whole school of Saint Pius X was going to Sylvia Park. We were going to go to Sylvia park because we were participating in the Manaiakalani Film Festival. We got our seats in the bus, then zoomed off to Sylvia Park. When we got to Sylvia Park we walked to the Hoyts. Soon as we got into the theatre there was another school called Glen Innes Primary.

I  had got to sit near the bottom with my friend Rachel and Tokilupe.
Soon as everybody had settled down the light’s had slowly turned off. A movie had started we then had seen to students from our class Alecia and Patrick. They then had a short speech for what we have been learning about. After they had said their speech they jumped off the stage. The movie had began. I was so excited. I was so excited because my class movie was all about success.

I loved it because it had this song called Roar by Katy Perry. When it had showed my group I was so proud of my group. For my group I was the director. When our movie was near the end we had our class Hi Fiving and jumping it looked really awesome.

The best movie that I had really thought was from Glen Innes primary there movie was called “What happened if there was no Chocolate in the World”. I really loved it because they had really acted out good.

When we had watched some of the movies we got into a line and walked out of Sylvia Park, we got into the bus with my whole class and Room 4, Room 5 also some Room 7. It was such a great sunny  day. We were all happy when we got to school to have our lunch.

So dad went running into the house. Ana there mum went under the house looking for the car keys. “ Why is it taking forever”. Shouted helsea. “ Can you see anything under there”. “ No, all I can see is cobwebs and spiders. “ Chelsea went under the house because she really wanted to go to the swimming pool. Prompt Writing 2

On a shiny, sunny day Emma’s family went to the beach. “Hurry up Emma we ain’t going to find a spot at the beach”.

“Look at the time Emma it’s almost 10:00” said Lucas. Emma took so long in the bathroom. She had been taking a long time in the bathroom because she had been trying on her swimming togs. “Mum, Emma is taking a long time” complained Lucas. Emma finally got out of the bathroom, then Emma, Lucas and their parents zoomed off to the beach.

It was so packed they did not find a spot. Lucas and Emma’s parents were so angry at her because they didn’t find a spot at the beach. “It’s not my fault “ said Emma. Emma went running away from her parents and Lucas. Emma had just turned seven and wanted to be just like a grown up. Emma could not really swim but she was so sad just because her parents and brother got angry at her so she ran into the water.

Lucas ran into the water where is she I can not find her. Suddenly a man that was under water looking around for some strange things and saw Emma drowning. The man swam to her and brought her up to the surface and laid his towel down for Emma to lie down on. Lucas said “mum, dad look Emma”. Emma’s family went running to her, even other people were looking at what had happened. All Emma’s family could hear people saying “who did it”.  “She isn't breathing” said Triston.

“She isn’t breathing, call the ambulance” said Triston. Triston was the nice man who got her out of the water. Emma’s mum, Matilda went running to the car to get her phone to ring the ambulance. The ambulance came, rushing. When they had got to the hospital Emma’s mum was so sad. The doctor had come in and said “Emma is fine”.

They had went home and didn’t want to make Emma sad or let her run away. Lucas said that he didn’t want to go to the beach if that was going to happen again. Emma’s family felt better when they all said sorry for being mean to Emma, but Emma needed to remember not to take so long in the bathroom again.

Squash

Woosh there went the ball past me with heaps of might.

On Monday straight after morning tea our class went to the hall to play squash. We got to go for 45 minutes. Soon to men introduced themselves to us, one of them was so tall, his name was Phil. He showed us some basic’s about squash. Phil showed us the big black wall that we were going to use to play squash. “The ball will hit the wall then the other person will have to hit it back and it will go on and on until one of you get out” Phil explained.

Michael showed us how to hit and where not to hit. Soon Phil split our class into two groups. When I had my first shot it was so cool because that was my first time playing squash. In the meantime we had to swap we had to get a squash racket and a squash ball, the squash ball was really soft and bouncy.

The squash ball was really bouncy. After a few seconds later Phil told us to bounce the ball then flip the racket over. I tried and tried, when I tried to hit the ball it went the wrong way, but it was still fun learning new skills. At the end Phil told us that he will see us on Tuesday. Before we went to class Michael asked us if we still remembered some of the squash rules, he asked us to tell him some. In the meantime we had to go back to class.

The best number one female for squash is , Nicol David, and the best number one male for squash is Ramy Ashour. Squash was invented in Harrow school around 1830. Harrow school is in England. What you wear for squash is a pair of shoes and glasses to stop the ball hitting on your face, also a T-shirt and shorts.

Duffy Theatre

“Yay today we have a Duffy Theatre show”. On the Twenty Third of September after morning tea we had a Duffy Theatre. The Duffy theatre comes to our school to tell us about reading and an experience of acting.

There were three of them, two men and one lady. There was a sign that said Duffy Loses his words.  There was laughter because there was one man wearing a woman's dress and a wig, he was pretending to be a teacher. When this weird looking, evil guy came, duffy is sleeping. Vautre the mean, evil looking guy blows in Duffy’s ears. Duffy moves side to side, and then he wakes up and said “ Whoa, who are you and why are you here?”.  The mean ugly looking guy put a toilet plunger on Duffy’s head and said “this will take all of your great, amazing words and they will be mine.

After a while Duffy was with Afi, his best friend. When Duffy woke up he heard his mum saying “ hurry up Duffy you're going to be late for school”. Duffy was going to take the rubbish out but it had been the wrong box. A few minutes later Duffy said “where is my toys?”. At breakfast he had Weetbix, his mum went off and he said “I will just use some sugar because mum was gone”. Duffy had thought that it was the sugar but it was the salt. He couldn’t read anything because Vautre had taken his words. Finally Duffy and his friend Afi got his words back by tricking Vautre.

When they had finished they gave out three books and a certificate to three students. They took some photos when they got it and when they were acting, it was so cool. My favourite thing about the acting was when the boy put a dress and a wig on. I hope next term they will come again.

My Kids For Kids

“ Yay today is kids 4 kids” I shouted.

On Friday the thirteenth of September it was the Kids for Kids. The Kids for Kids was in Mangere. When me and my dad and brother were about to leave I grabbed my bottle and ran to the car. We went I was so excited. After we had got off the Southern motorway there was for ways we could go my dad said to me “do you remember the way to go?”, “No” I said to my dad. We tried almost every road, I said to my dad  look there's heaps of cars and people coming out of the car with their children”. I looked ”YAY” and it was where we had to go.

We jumped out of the car and walked to the backstage. I told my dad that it was freezing. I quickly ran inside the building. “Wait up” said my dad. I then saw a lot of students with colorful T - shirts and pants, I didn't see anyone in my class. I then saw someone wearing silver sparkling clothes and waving at me, and it was Miss G with a big smile on her face. My dad and brother went to go find their seat. I saw some students in my class like Alecia, Kanesini, Faleaka, Ma’ata, Joanna, Rosalina, Tokilupe, Stephanie,  Seuati, Paul and Manu.

I sat down and there were a lot of crazy students from other schools. When we sat down Miss G let us play with the knuckle bones and the monkey barrel, almost all of us were playing with the monkey barrel. When it was time to go on stage we had to get into a line that we had lined up in the morning. I got into the line with another school and with two students from my class. Next Dayna told us to come to the stage. It was so cool walking on the stage and seeing how many people were there in the audience.

Filming Reflection

Last week our class were starting to make a movie. We got into a group, we discussed what we were going to do. I was going to be the director, one of the students were acting as the teacher and the other was acting to be a teacher aide, there still was four children left and so they played the students. After that we put it on the storyboard. We made sure that everyone in our group had a part to play. When it was time to film our teacher helped us to film it.

I stood from an angle to see. I then thought what is the movie for and it was for the Film Festival where other schools come and watch films from schools that act out movies just like what our class did. When my teacher filmed it we stopped and told her what part we were doing next. After that we were finished. I sat down with my teacher and discussed where the footage will fit in. It worked and we listened to it with some music and it was perfect. The other groups put their movies all together. When it was all done we watched it all and it was amazing.

Maths Reflection

For Maths this morning I was learning to find fractions and write and read them, our teacher tested us on it. It was very easy for me. I like maths because It is good for me to learn and understand things, like how much things are. My group is called Terrific Triangles. Sometimes I go onto Math Whizz, it helps me to learn Basic Facts, Fractions and lots more. Also I go on to Xtra Maths, it helps me to learn division, plus, takeaways. Math whizz is a website that I can go on. It is sometimes easy and hard. Most of the time for me math whizz is easy and Xtra maths is easy for me too.

St Pius X Feast Day

“Yay today is St Pius X Feast Day” I shouted.

On the twenty third of August it was the Feast Day of Saint Pius X. In the morning the whole school - teachers, family and parents went into the church. Father said Good Morning to everyone, and asked us all about the feast day of Saint Pius. After the mass we went inside the hall to have cake, the cake was a banana cake and was shaped like a rectangle.

Before we ate the cake Miss Tui said “ Everyone sing Happy Birthday”. All the students started singing and then Genevieve and Maxine in Room 7 cut the cake. Some of the girls in room 7 got the pieces that were cut and gave them to us.  When the teachers, staff and students finished we went to go play outside. When the bell rang we lined up in front of the hall.

I was so excited because we were having a concert, we sat down on the mats and were waiting for the other classes to come. Room 1 and 2 stood up to go sing, I then saw my sister Angelyn and Rosrine’s brother holding the microphone. A student put on the music that room 1 and 2 were going to sing. They were singing ‘Doe, Rai, Me’, Rosrine’s brother sounded so good. My sister started singing and was just as good as Rosrine’s brother. “Give a round of applause for room 1 and 2” said a student in room 7.

After their performance it was Room 4’s turn, they were singing ‘Just a single candle’. When they finished it was our class’ turn, I was so nervous. We were singing ‘Something in the water’ and ‘Haere Mai’. It was so scary singing while people were looking at me. Next they said “give an applause for room three”. Room 6 played their ukuleles and sang ‘Mali Mali mai’. Last was Room 7 and they were doing an instrumental and singing ‘Let it go’.

Finally we got to stand up and go get our lunch. It was a great morning.

XCountry

“Yay I’m so excited for X Country” I shouted aloud.

On this amazing, exciting, hot, sunny day it was Tuesday the 13th of August. On that day it was X Country. When it was lunchtime I got my sport shoes and then Miss G put the age that we were on our hands. After lunch some of the students, teachers and parents were watching us walking into the tennis courts.

There were chairs with labels on it that said the ages. I went in the line with the others who were 10. Miss G said “First we are going to take the 12 and 13 year olds”. They went to go line up near the office. “On your marks, get set, go” said Miss G and she banged the blocks together. The students all zoomed off running around the streets. A little while later Miss G told the ll year olds to stand up and line up near the office. Again she said “on your marks, get set, go!”, They were all zooming of down the hill.

I was so scared because me and the other 10 year olds were next. Miss G said “On your marks, get set, go”, I went running down the hill. I saw two girls from St Mary’s College say to me and my friend Tokilupe “keep on going girls”. “I’m thirsty I need water” I said to Tokilupe. I then had saw my auntie across the road, I shouted to my auntie and said “Hi auntie ”. My auntie waved at me and after that I was close to the end so ran to Tokilupe.

I kept on running until I ran back to Miss G, When I was running Rachel told me to smile so I smiled because I was happy. I walked inside the tennis court and sat down and finally the race had finished. I asked Monique who came 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th. She said that she had came 1st, Joanna came 2nd, Folauhola was 3rd, Tokilupe came 4th and that I came 5th. I was happy that I came 5th. After that all of the seniors walked to the corner of the tennis court and watched the juniors run around the field. When the 8 year old boys raced I cheered for my brother. At the end of the race my brother came 2nd. After that we went back to class when the others had finished and got back into our school uniform and went home.
