Similes and Metaphors


Similes and Metaphors
A simile is where two things are directly compared because they share a common feature. The word AS or LIKE is used to compare the two words. Eg. As cold AS a dog's nose
A metaphor also compares two things, but it does so more directly WITHOUT using as or like. Eg. The shop was a little gold-mine.
Task One
At the end of the sentence, write in brackets whether the sentence is an example of a metaphor or simile.
Eg. The clouds were fluffy like cotton wool. (SIMILE)

Bracket Fungi



A Bracket Fungi look’s like a shell. Some people call it Bracket Fungi ,Flying Fungi. A Bracket Fungi is shaped as a shell.

Flying Fungi are like mushroom’s. Once a tree is infected the Flying Fungi can’t be killed. The Fungi smells a little bit like a mushroom. Bracket Fungi are not plants. They absorb their food from rotting wood.
New Bracket fungi can grow from spores. They usually grow on tree stumps or on trunks of dead or rotting trees. They can also help break down trees.
